I was inspired to write my prison novel  — now available at

by my own experience. My father was a correctional officer and I was raised on the grounds of prisons all over the state of California. When I grew up, I worked my way through college as a guard at San Quentin Prison, serving in Death Row, the Big Yard, and as a rifleman in its gun towers. And I assure you, every character in the book — good, bad and ugly — is based on someone I knew personally.
Every shocking and violent detail in the book has its origin in incidents I either viewed myself or learned about from my fellow officers. Even the beautiful bad girl Moke is based upon someone I once knew intimately, and who haunts me to this day.
